Well here we are, one week later and it is unbelieveable that we have this adorable baby boy here in our arms! He is definitely my favorite person to hang out with, even though I get peed on, pooped on, and sucked HARD on......I couldn't imagine life any other way! I am managing to get just about 4 hours of sleep at night - we are feeding every 2 1/2 to 3 hours, unless he lets me know he needs a snack in between. Breastfeeding is by far the hardest thing to learn - it's like my puzzle piece and his puzzle piece fitting together but at first they are completely different shapes. We finally have our pieces together and everything is going great! He lost 9% of his body weight in the first few days, which was very discouraging but we had a check up yesterday and he is on the upswing of things and gaining his weight back quickly! Just about all babies lose weight in the beginning but we were trying so hard and it was more painful than giving birth - REALLY! So anyway - we have our first pediatrician appointment next Friday when he is 2 weeks old and then maybe she will tell us it's okay to venture out into stores and on outings - so far one of us has to sit in the car while the other runs in. We could probably take him but he is so young and with it being cold and flu season, I rather not risk it!
To everyone who has tried to call both of us and left messages, we will get back to you - our whole schedule revolves around this little man and getting enough time to take a shower everyday is a BIG challenge! We aren't ignoring you, just be patient with us - PLEASE! Thanks for all the support and love for our little family - we are so happy to know that he is so loved!
