A day in Santa Barbara
On Sunday we decided *spur-of-the-moment* to head down to Santa Barbara for a relaxing afternoon. The crowds were crazy doing their last minute shopping on State Street, which also happens to be where all the parking is. So we parked in one of the only parking spaces left and had a late lunch at Jeremy's favorite resturant....Chipotle. After Jackson made a mess there with rice and guacomole, we walked to the end of State Street to the pier for a little people watching and water watching. Here are just a few things that we saw......
A HUGE bird...whatever you would technically call this. There were a few of them and they were eyeing Jackson so we decided to walk QUICKLY past them after stopping for a picture. In the background you can see one of few oil rigs out in the Pacific(just to the right of the birds beak and above the pier). They are really cool at night because they are lit up like Christmas decorations all year around. Did you know they can move really easy and sometimes they are seen clustered together....looks like you can jump from one to the other.
Here is a picture of the west coast seagulls but more of a picture of Santa Barbara......it is so beautiful, although this is where those big wildfires were just a month or so ago.
Here is Jackson meeting his first "real" pirate. Like Santa, he wasn't so sure of this guy. Jackson was watching his every move, although he didn't move......he didn't take his eyes off of him and clung to Jeremy. On the pier you could take a pirate cruise....not sure where they went other than circling in front of the pier though?!
And here is how Jackson likes to roll here lately....pushing his ride. He is more of a "marcher" right now but he is walking all over the place and loves to push anything that'll move...including Bo.
One more of Jackson on the pier playing. This pier has resturants and shops on it and cars are allowed to drive and park on it. Needless to say it is huge and there really aren't any barriers to keep people from falling...or jumping off the sides. Hence the reason we stayed right in the middle when Jackson was out of the stroller.
